Two main segments of the complete renovation of the high-rise were its new glass facades and how the building was raised with three stories up. Floor to-ceiling glass window façade was newly placed to the completely revealed load beating concrete structure. As a last façade layer the windows are operable. With very thin aluminium profile frames, the windows are operable as a last façade layer introduced to the building. The building is raised three floors which helps to be better situated in the site context. The ground floor is well connected with the public and internal pedestrian routes through the site. The interior spaces have great advantages due to the glass atrium and its social spaces with planted trees. At street level along Berliner Allee between Stein and Gründstrasse, the work of the swiss visual artist Beat Streuli is spectacular. He used several portraits of people on a transparent filter layer with which he covered the entire podium part of the building. The end result is a welcoming gesture for the pedestrians at a streetlevel and more humane approach of the building towards the urban environment.
