Guangfa Securities Headquarters is a super high rise 308-meter tall tower located in Zhujiang New Town district of Guangzhou. A holistic principle guides its development from urban planning to a refined architectural, landscape and interior concepts articulated into an expressive design through sophisticated facade system.
The tower’s elegant and slender proportion is achieved by tilting its principal facades and chamfering corners to generate a facetted form that tapers as it rises towards the crown. Rotation of its footprint in relation to the dominant urban grid creates strong vertical perceptions of the tower and maximizes views of the park from inside. The slender volume allows more daylight for the financial industry office floors. The tower uses central cross core with a sky lobby that helps to optimized the vertical circulation by using same elevator shafts from different zone’s elevator groups. The core size and the public circulation was optimized to the minimum which helped to maximize the floor plate efficiency.
The tower program is divided into two parts by the sky lobby. In the lower part are situated rental office floors and the upper part of the tower are the headquarter office floors of Guangfa Securities.
The external form of tower is articulated by three key zones – the entrance lobby, the sky lobby and the crown. The interior design characteristics of each key zones were generated by the transformation of the tower facade elements into interior space elements. Single customized vertical mullion profile is used as a generative component that articulates external skin of the tower with its interiors, thus creating a holistic visual experience.
Leading an expert team of engineers, manufactures and sustainability consultants, Jaeger Kahlen Partner managed to integrate from the very initial stage of concept design highly sophisticated building systems that reduce the building’s environmental footprint and have a direct social impact on employee’s well-being and productivity. Efficient building floor plate with optimized structural and core design along indoor atrium spaces helped improve the office work qualities and tenants experience. Curved façade spandrel panels draw in and filter outside air which helps to enhance the indoor natural ventilation and improve office spaces thermal comfort. The entire facade uses high-performance, Low-E frit printed glass that reduces solar heat gain while maintaining views and daylighting. The extruded mullion profiles and cladding panels are built of recycled aluminum alloys, enhancing environmental sustainability while maintaining the level of finish quality appropriate for a headquarters for a global leader in the world financial economy.
Supported by a signature annex podium on the west for VIP lounge, with reflective water bodies and an impressive landscape, Guangfa Securities Headquarters integrates into the larger urban fabric and provides interactive social space to the city. The design surpasses dualities and combines form and function in a holistic approach. The super high rise office tower re-affirms our process of evolving concept from its rooted urban origins and integrating architectural detailing, facade systems and interiors into a holistic and memorable design.
