The site is located in the South of the West Creek Wetland Reserve. The pavilion is a modern building which reflects the high standard of contemporary technological advancement while integrating Chinese traditional elements. Chinese culture is expressed as a metaphor and in correlation, rather than just a mere representation.
There are five theme courtyards within the design of the pavilion. A stainless steel wall on the south and west boundaries visually reflect and enlarge the space of the narrow site, which turns the pavilion into an exquisite and elegant promotional space. A glass elevator in the central atrium takes the guests to the viewing platform about 15m above ground to look at the commercial centre under construction, and enjoy the view of the Wetland Reserve and mountain. Our design started on researching the function analysis. The Project offices and other supporting rooms are taken apart from the main body, creating an open and public exhibition space. Our understanding of the Suzhou Garden in the exterior and interior spaces is integrated within each other, sharing the views thus bringing a unique experience to the Investment Attraction area.
The theme for the landscape design of the project is to emphasize and integrate the influence of the Chinese courtyard housing design and the Suzhou garden within the pavilion. The stainless steel metal wall represents the Metal element, creating an enclosed and unified background sight for the site, integrated into water, earth and wood elements respectively. The two modern courtyards inside the building have a similar poetic imagery as the Suzhou Garden bringing the natural light into the inner part of the pavilion. Within one of the courtyard, tuff paving represents the Fire element; and guests can take the glass elevator in the bigger courtyard to enjoy the surrounding environment.
